Where to
Put Your Phone Number on Your Website
Since 2001, I've worked on
hundreds of websites. Many of those clients needed me to
redesign a website that they already had. What I noticed
with most of my redesign clients is that they didn't have
their business phone number in a noticeable place on every
single page of their website. So is this really a
problem?
Of course it is. When
someone visits any page of your website, they need to know how
to contact you for more information. Just having a
contact page on your website isn't enough, you need to make
sure that they can find your contact number on any page.
When someone is reading any
page of your site, make sure that it would take them no more
than three seconds to find your phone number if they were to
look for it. Consider placing it up at the very top of
your site, and possibly on the side or bottom of the page, so
they can find it quickly if they have been reading that page's
text.
