Dalton Honore resigned from the Parish Attorney’s office after
twenty years of dedicated service; to announce his candidacy for
Sheriff of East Baton Rouge Parish. Honore has been a life-long
dedicated law enforcement officer in East Baton Rouge Parish. He
desires to continue his quest to protect and serve the citizens
of the parish as Sheriff. He is requesting that you join him in
his effort to become a part of the solution to “Help stop Crime
and Violence." Please visit the support page to learn more
about how you can show your participation in creating a safer
parish for our families, or visit the contributions page to make
an online donation to Dalton's campaign.
In 1965 Honore was appointed as the first African-American East
Baton Rouge Parish Deputy Sheriff. He spent approximately twelve
years with the Sheriff’s Office rising to the rank of Captain
and Sub-Station Commander. Honore left the Sheriff’s
Office to start a private business, and while working at the
family owned business his love for law enforcement allowed him
to return to that profession as a legal investigator with the
Parish Attorney’s office.
A message from Dalton Honore:

and crime free community in America, and I will do my part by
